About Marvel Battlegrounds:
So this one might be controversial but I stand by it. Marvel’s Avengers is not a bad game. The negatives are pretty straightforward: it’s not well optimized, there are live service elements, and it doesn’t have a lot of variety in it’s post-main story gameplay. Despite that, it has a very fun combat system with good combo elements (reminiscent of fighting games), great variety in the heroes you play, and a lot of stuff to do. The thing that made me come write this review is that I came back to the Avengers after a year or so only to find that they’ve added three free new chunks of content with heroes and STILL don’t shove micros in your face. Great stuff. So yes Marvel’s Avengers could have, and should have, been better. But the game that’s there still has a good story with fun characters and combat, so I would recommend you try it (at least on sale). This game has had it’s rougher edges, but over time you can tell the team puts a lot of heart into it and truly want to shape Avengers to be something great. Avengers best move is to lean into a live-service experience similar to the steps Conan Exiles is taking soon. If you were an avid Marvel Heroes player like I was, this game wont replace it but it is the next best thing. With Avengers coming closer with every update. I hope soon we can move into more interesting heroes being added! Maybe a mutant that was an Avenger (i.e. Wolverine or even better Storm). Hoping they figure out a lot of improvements before Midnight Suns release so they don’t get left in the dust.
