About Monster Ghoul:
I’m not sure if this is the correct time in my play through to write a review, but at 93 hours in and having had the end credits roll I think it’s about time I put my thoughts to speech bubble. I have no problem recommending this game, particularly when on sale. I was interested in an action game that was challenging, revolved around beautiful locations with interesting and varied hunts that required preparation to succeed in. I was ready to do some grinding as long as the rewards were worthwhile and I continued to enjoy the game. The locations feel very real to life. It’s not quite the open world you’re used to. The locations are big but they are more maze-like than they are open plains like. And it works for me. The verticality of these locations particularly is something that I love about this game and something not many games do or do well. I found a weapon (insect glaive) that also let me play a vertical play style, with multiple jumps and dashes in the air that required good positional awareness and quick thinking. (I feel like my rocket league skills transferred over a bit into playing that weapon). I was also surprised how good the online portion of the game is. Not only are there a lot of players still playing, it really livens the world knowing that you can invite others, friends or strangers, to join in on the fun. This does often cause fights to be trivial unless you set a specific level limit to who can join. Even with limits, monsters appear to be a lot easier to take down in tandem rather than solo. This is why I chose to fight each new monster solo first before inviting or joining others to fight them.
