About Ninja Legends:
I absolutely recommend this game, but it’s not going to be for people who are looking for realistic sword fighting or role playing. For me, I was attracted to the idea of being a ridiculously strong ninja in VR, and just creating a bloodbath destroying enemies. This is normal, right? Anyway, the game delivered. It has satisfying slashing, stabbing, and blocking but it isn’t trying to simulate real-life combat. The game has a story but its not the focal point, and its pretty obvious where the devs’ priorities were. It is an arcade style action game. I was a beta tester for the game, but I liked the game enough to buy it in early access and I play it way more than I should. It is higher intensity than games like Gorn or Blade and Sorcery, once you get familiar enough with the game to move beyond the beginner difficulty. It has much more interesting enemies than those games as well (just my opinion, I like those games too!), as some of the enemies are mini-bosses or full bosses with multiple phases and sophisticated patterns of attack. These enemies sometimes will attack pretty randomly but you can tell that the devs also scripted some really cool attack patterns involving multiple enemies. This game has the potential to change you. My shoulders are way stronger than before I started playing the game and the intensity is not a joke – this game will engage you physically and you will sweat. Definitely not a game to play before work, you might need to shower afterwards. I tried playing the game like Wii Sports and got crushed, so now I really swing. Something else that is important to know is that the game is not about locomotion. A lot of people want this in VR, but I’m more about physicality. And that’s why I love this game. I like Gorn too but it doesn’t keep up the tempo. The game has a lot of environments, way more than other combat games, but you aren’t really moving around them. They are still really impressive to look at, especially the nighttime levels and fog levels. Again, I really like this game and think you should give it a try if you want high intensity combat with lots of different types of enemies and bosses; and you aren’t looking for a super-deep RPG or realistic sword fighting game.
